REINFORCER

This device is a three-foot skeletal hypodermic needle filled with foul-smelling green ectoplasm. The user injects it into any intelligent subject and makes an Arcanowave Device check with the subject’s Magic rating as its Difficulty. The subject then grows a temporary hard, insect-like shell which provides 3 points of armor protection (see Armor, p. 138) and levies an Agility penalty of -1. The armor lasts for a number of sequences equal to the Outcome of the Arcanowave Device check. At the end of the session, the subject must make a mutation check, with the Outcome as its Difficulty. If the subject would have to make a mutation check anyway, the Outcome is added to the Difficulty.

The user does not have to have the reinforcer connected to an AI/O port when injecting the needle. However, to refill it with summoned ectoplasm, the hypo must be plugged in. Refilling the device has a shot cost of 8 and requires an Arcanowave Device check with a Difficulty of 6. If an attempt fails, it can be immediately repeated with no ill effect.
